Wingate Danny Spivey

Wingate “Danny” Spivey, 70, of Lake View, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, surrounded by his family, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Born on July 29, 1955, Danny spent his life rooted in the tobacco industry, from farming to buying. He worked for American Tobacco Company, Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, and later retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was known for the many miles he covered throughout Lake View, Mullins, and Fairmont, a familiar presence to so many in the community.

Danny was a faithful member and former deacon of Bear Swamp Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Roland Spivey, Jr. and Kathryn Atkinson Spivey.

He is survived by his sons, Jason (Raegan) Spivey and Kyle (William) Spivey; the mother of his sons, Joni Huggins Spivey; his sister, Nancy (Mickey) Worley; his brother, Casey Spivey; his grandchildren, Eden, Tatum, and Roland Spivey; and a special companion, Patricia Sealey.

Visitation will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. at Bear Swamp Baptist Church.
