Virginia Estelle Cooke Hayes,

Virginia Estelle Cooke Hayes, 77, of Lake View passed away April 1, 2019.

Mrs. Hayes was born July 26, 1941 to the late Arthur and Eula Barfield Cooke. She grew up on the family farm in Lake View and attended Lake View schools as well as Selena Business College in Lumberton, NC.

She married Theodore Ward Hayes, Jr. on April 6, 1962. Together they raised their family in Anderson SC where Ted preceded her in death.

Virginia taught many years in Anderson’s Trinity United Methodist Church 3-year old preschool and took great joy in singing and playing with her ‘cherubs’. She was later employed by AnMed Hospital as a Patient Advocate and Thorne Retirement Home as Activities Director.

She loved gardening, listening to songbirds and feeding them from her back porch.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her daughter Jenni (Dave) McAda of Cleveland SC and grandsons Creg (Sara) McAda and Kyle (Sara) McAda of Greenville SC, as well as son Theodore Ward (Teddy) Hayes III of Lake View. Also surviving are Dee Hayes, Rivers Keaton, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 4, at 2pm at Union Cemetery in Latta SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lake View Baptist Church, PO Box 397, Lake View SC 29563 or Travelers Rest United Methodist Church, 19 S. Main St., Travelers Rest SC 29690.
