Nancy Bass Rogers

Nancy Bass Rogers, 72 of Lake View, South Carolina entered eternal rest on April 30, 2020.

Nancy was born on September 21, 1947 in Lake View, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mayo Bass. She was a graduate of Lake View High School, Vardell Hall, and Limestone College. Also, receiving a Master’s in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina. Nancy cherished time walking on the beach, shagging to beach music at Ocean Drive, attending theatre productions, collecting fine china and antiques. She was a beloved “Miss Nancy” as a Second and Third grade teacher for over 40 years at Lake View Elementary School. Her kindness and affection for all children was well known. However, no greater love was for her own children and now grandchildren or “her world” as she frequently told them. As their “Nan”, she read hundreds of books over the years, attended every school function, and expressed an unconditional love for them that never wavered.

In retirement, Nancy called Charleston her second home. She enjoyed spending time there with her children attending Citadel functions, eating at the latest restaurant, and sharing the Lowcountry culture and history with her grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her children, Weatherly Rogers Brice (Miller), Ashley Ferrell Rogers, and Brantley Trayce Rogers all of Charleston, South Carolina. Siblings, Amy Bass Williamson and Tommy Franklin Bass of Lake View, South Carolina. She is also survived by the absolute loves of her life, her “two precious” grandchildren, Robert Miller “Mills” Brice, IV and Greyson “Grey” Walters Brice of Charleston, South Carolina.

A private, graveside funeral is planned for the immediate family. Memorials may be made in her name to Lake View First Baptist Church, Lake View, SC, The Medical University of South Carolina Hollings Cancer Center, Charleston, SC, or the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.
