Mrs. Miriam Carmichael died Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at McLeod Medical Center of Dillon, after an illness.
A graveside service will be Sunday, February 4th at 3:00 pm at Lake View Perpetual Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at 2:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service.
Mrs. Carmichael was born in Mullins SC, the daughter of the late Homer Jake and Pauline Elvington Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake View and worked in the Medical Records Dept. at Marion County Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Martin D. Carmichael, Jr. (Brooke); daughters, Jennifer C. Helms (Kevin) and Angela C. Townsend; brother, Tony Smith (Frances); sisters, Marlene Green (Arnold), Yvonne S. Weeks, Connie Graham (Jim); brother-in-law, Larry Simmons; grandchildren, Paul D. Townsend, Jr. (Xavier), Maegan Grice (Jimmy), Jacob M. Townsend, Brynn R. Carmichael, Ryland M. Carmichael; great grandchildren, Ryder M. Grice and Raelynn D. Grice.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Simmons, and a special sister-in-law, Evelyn C. Hayes.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Renee and Chris Harrelson, and the ICU nurses at McLeod Medical Center Dillon.
