Matthew David Moore

Matthew David Moore, born July 11, 2003, passed away on September 13, 2025, at the age of 22.

He was the beloved son of Amanda Mae Mahaffey of Gastonia, N.C., and Matthew Dale Moore of Florence, S.C. In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his sisters, Mackenzie Moore of Florence and Sarah Moore of Temperance Hill; his maternal grandmother, “Grammy” Sheila Mahaffey of Lake View; his great-grandmother, “Granny” Jo Carole Dickerson of Lake View; and his paternal grandmother, “Grandma” Lee Mitchell (Don) of Florence.

He also leaves behind a loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends, including his best friend, Amber Owens.

Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, “Papa” David Mahaffey, and his paternal grandfather, Steve Moore.

Matthew will be remembered as a kind, loving, and respectful young man. A deep thinker with a gift for writing poetry, he carried strong spiritual beliefs and a close connection to God. His sudden passing has deeply shaken us all, but his spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Bert Petty.
