Lanneau Hayes

Mr. Lanneau Hayes died Friday, May 31, 2024, at McLeod Medical Center of Dillon, after an illness.

A funeral service will be Monday, June 3 at 3:00 p.m. at Hayestown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery of Hamer. The family will receive friends on Monday at 2:00 at the church, prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Hayes was born October 26, 1935, the son of the late George and Bertie Bryant Hayes. He grew up in Hayestown working on the family farm and married Margaret on December 25, 1959. He was a farmer first and foremost until he reached the age of 45. Mr. Hayes continued his career in maintenance for Sunny Acres Nursing Home of Fork until his retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes had two children, Cindy and Kevin. His favorite pastime was music. He played over 7 instruments, where he was self-taught on each. He loved to sing Hank Williams, Bluegrass and Gospel music. He was a member of a band that traveled the state for many years. He loved his family unconditionally and had a special bond with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Hayes; children, Cindy Hayes (Fiancée Nelson Rogers) and Kevin Hayes (Nicole); grandchildren, Tyler Odom, Mikaela Hayes and Cassie Lesieur,

He was preceded in death by 21 brothers and sisters, including Coleen Lawler, Bill Hayes, Helen Holiday and Valdean Hayes.

He was especially close to his cousins, Charlie Hayes and Randy Scott.
