Gayle Page Gandley

Mrs. Gayle Page Gandley, a beloved mother, grandmother, educator, servant of Christ, and faithful friend, passed away May 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply. Born on January 2, 1950, in Robeson County, Gayle was the treasured daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy Horne, whose values of faith, hard work, and compassion shaped the remarkable woman she became.

A funeral service will be Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lake View. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lake View.

Throughout her life, Gayle exemplified grace, strength, and unwavering devotion to others. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church, she faithfully served her church family in countless ways. Whether teaching Sunday School, serving as a deaconess, or quietly ministering to those in need, Gayle dedicated her life to sharing the love of Jesus Christ.

Gayle also devoted more than forty years of her life to education within the Dillon County School District, where she served as a teacher, assistant principal, and Director of the district’s alternative school program. Her influence reached far beyond the classroom walls. She believed deeply in the potential of every child and worked tirelessly to encourage, uplift, and inspire generations of students and educators alike. Her wisdom, compassion, and dedication left an immeasurable impact on countless lives and created a legacy that will continue for years to come.

Outside of her professional career, Gayle gave generously of herself to her community. She was an active member of organizations including the Business and Professional Women’s Club and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed. In her earlier years, she worked side by side with her family on the family farm, where she learned the value of perseverance, sacrifice, and love rooted deeply in family traditions.

Later in life, Gayle found great happiness in marrying her best friend and companion, Mike Gandley, who preceded her in death. Together they shared a life filled with friendship, laughter, and devotion.

Known lovingly by many as “Ms. Gayle,” and "Mama", she will also be remembered for the simple joys she treasured—her beautiful gardens, her eye for fashion, her love of antiques and jewelry, and the warmth she brought into every home and heart she touched. Yet above all else, Gayle’s greatest joy was her family. She loved fiercely and unconditionally, pouring her heart into her children and grandchildren every day of her life.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Horne; her siblings, Wanda and Phillip; and her husband, Mike Gandley.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her oldest son, Tron (Kimberly) Page; her daughter, Megan (Matt) Poland; and her youngest son, James (Meredith) Page. She was a devoted and adoring grandmother to Cory, Courtney, Ryan, Adam, Jake, Luke, Abigail, Ella, Livi, and Keegan, and a proud great-grandmother to Archer and Weston. Though her earthly journey has ended, Gayle’s faith, kindness, and extraordinary legacy of love and service will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
