Bobbie Holt Cook

Bobbie Holt Cook, born on June 3, 1927 in Nichols, South Carolina, passed away on November 24, 2024. She was an active member of the Lake View community since 1948.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her father, Harvey L. Holt; mother, Mary Anna McCallum Holt; sister, Addie Catherine Holt Shine; and brothers, John Holt and Hoyt Holt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alton Cook; her son, Robert Alton Cook Jr.; and her grandson, Bret Cook.

She is survived by her daughter, Joy Cook Duncan; her son, Harvey Brentley Cook (Zandra); grandchildren, Brandon Cook (Deanna); Kristin Jacobs (Curtis); Melanie McCluskey (BJ); and five great-grandchildren.

Bobbie graduated from Coker College with a degree in education. During her career she taught at South Robeson Elementary, Avalon Academy, and Lake View Elementary.

She was very active in her community. She loved her church, First Baptist Church in Lake View, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed baking cakes and making candy and other sweets to share with friends, neighbors, and shut-ins. She had a green thumb, and gardening and sharing produce with others was another hobby she loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Patriot Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Lake View, South Carolina on Friday, November 29.  Visitation will be in the sanctuary at 1:00, and services will follow at 2:00.  The burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
