Mae Bernice (Bern) Rogers

Mrs. Mae Bernice (Bern) Rogers Meekins of Lake View, SC was born July 8, 1940 in Horry County. She passed away September 5, 2018 with the loving care of McLeod Hospice House of Florence. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Roy Rogers and Daisy Jane Henderson Rogers. She has been married to James Allen Meekins for 58 years.

Her celebration of life will be at Piney Grove Baptist Church on Thursday, September 6 at 5:00 pm, directed by Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 pm prior to the service.

She enjoyed working throughout her life at Selma Hosiery Mill, Piedmont Insurance Company and Lake View Schools. She was an active member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and an avid Lake View Wild Gator supporter.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Terry (Baxter) Meekins Sowell and Jamey (Katrina) Allen Meekins; four grandchildren, Margaret Culbreth Sowell, Morgan Baxter Sowell, III, Kammer Elizabeth Meekins, and Culbreth James Meekins; and sister, Ginny Rogers Watford. Her sisters, Eunice Rogers Rogers and Shirley Rogers Jackson, preceded her in death. The family would like to thank Edna Earl Ellis and Joan McKenzie for their selfless love athey showed Bernice throughout her illness and Bill King for his ministry over the last several years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church.
